A Foggy Day (No listening currently available) |
Description: | The Gershwin brothers’ song from the musical “A Damsel In Distress” arranged for Big Band featuring a male vocalist. The piece starts with an ostinato figure over a C-pedal, where the theme is presented alternately modally or over regular chords. The theme ends with a hand-over to a trombone pickup – over the afore mentioned ostinato – and solo chorus, which in its turn ends with a modest ensemble part giving over to a sax chorus. After the sax chorus comes an ensemble shout, that ends in a fanfare-like break leading to the ostinato figure where the vocalist returns with some vocal fills, leading to the theme with regular chords. After that last theme, the outro ends the piece with the ostinato figure, some vocal fills and horn backgrounds. The brass have much work with mutes in this piece. Notated key F. |
